My own reality got me tonight. I missed the finale of 'Brat Camp'. My room-mate had free passes to a pre-showing of The Cave. (warning dial up. . .link shows a preview). The radio station people who were sponsoring the free showing had to do their thing. The theater was on the other side of town. Anyway, you get the picture. I made it back to my house in time to see the beginning of 'Lost'. Crap. I totally thought I could make it home in time when I agreed to go out to the movies.
The Cave wasn't too bad until about half-way through. Then it got all hokey/cheesy/predictable and finished on a rather lame note. If you can get a free pass, go to see it. Otherwise, just pass.
So now I need to talk to someone who watched Brat Camp tonight. Or maybe I should just write what I think happened and see how close I come to the reality of the end of this reality show. Really.
Do it! Write what you think, and I'll let you know what happened. :)

So is this a good thing or a bad thing? Brat Camp has made an impact on a lot of viewers outside of China. A lot of people may think restraint is in order, but there are lots of ways to deal with teens, and this is just one of them.

Hi Carolin: This blog entry is 6 1/2 years old, so I can only assume you used a search engine to find it. Not sure what the 'china' reference means. . .
Truth is that I have worked with teens at several different treatment organizations, including some wilderness ones, and my opinions about Brat Camp were colored by that. But like I said, that was over six years ago, and I don't remember much of what happened with the tv show. ;). I see from your link that you are apparently connected to a school. It looks like a good place, and I wish you good fortune with the work that is done there to help teens.
