For some reason, our Human slept in today. The other Human got up and went to work, but ours stayed in bed until late in the morning.
Now we know the value of sleep. We spend enough time ourselves in our beds, especially as we get older. But the Humans aren't supposed to sleep in. When we want something, we want to know that the Human is there to respond immediately.
So we both sat outside his room and sang to him. All morning. Loudly. Finally, he stuck his head outside the door and said "what?" in that irritated voice he sometimes has. Of course, we told him what we expected. For some reason, he didn't get it, and went back into his room.
But he made one mistake. He left the bedroom door open.
We waited until he was asleep again, and then jumped on his bed and began licking his face. He hates it when we do that.
Score one for the cats.
