Leveling Up

Yes I admit that I'm still playing World of Warcraft.   Along with several million other people from around the world.  One of the goals of the game is to 'level up' through 70 different 'rungs on the ladder'.  The more experience points you get, the higher level you get to, the cooler gear you can get, and the harder the game seems to get.  Except when you get to the higher level, it somehow doesn't feel all that cool.

Shrek has a new do

Do you remember when you were a kid and they had those lame chiapet commericials on TV?  Well, it seems that chiapets are making a comeback.  Now you can get Shrek, Bugs Bunny and even Tweety with green hair.

Someone is making millions. Why didn't you think of this?  Why didn't I think of it.  Who can we plot to 'chia-ize' next?  ChiaChenny?  ChiaOprah?  ChiaAmericanIdol?

Birthday

So it's another birthday today.  And another 2ndchance birthday.  I must admit I'm feeling weird.  I haven't been able to sleep for the past three nights and didn't go into work today.  Originally, I was to have a long day. . .from 8:30 to about 5:30 with some training in the afternoon.  So the actual quiet celebration will be tomorrow. . .with my Mom.  We are going out to eat, then I get to open some presents.  Yay!

Already received some special birthday drawings from my niece and nephew.  :)  And some other good friends sent me some new shirts.  And I suspect that my sister tried to call me this morning because of the "unknown" on the cell phone caller ID.  So the day hasn't been a total waste.

I feel lucky.  Although sometimes I don't think luck has anything to do with it.  Cheers for another year!

*EDIT*  My day is now complete.  My sister called me.  Yay!  :)

Sunny Day

Surgery went well.  Eyes are still swollen, but the annoying part w/ frozen peas and no sleep is over.  Thanks to my mom for the TLC and comfy couch!

Just returned from a family cookout.  My sister's niece and her husband, who purchased my mother's house, had a baby son exactly a year ago.  So this was a first birthday party.  It was great to see members of my brother-in-law's family and friends of Lawrence and Natalie.  The weather cooperated. . . .after days and days in the triple digits it was in the low 80's with blue skies.  There were two pools for the kiddies, and it seemed that everyone had a camera.  Little Eli had a small cake to himself and it was funny to watch him tear into it.

It was interesting to watch all of the young families with their small children. . . .talking about grad school and buying houses and raising kids.  Most of these young adults are younger than the majority of my former youth.

I feel old and a bit out of place.
